FCBL Launches 2024 Auction Season

The Food Corporation of Bhutan Limited (FCBL) officially launched the 2024 auction season today at the Auction Yard in Phuentsholing. This event marks the commencement of a crucial period for the export of agricultural produce, predominantly potatoes and vegetables, sourced from various parts of country. The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Chief Executive Officer, accompanied by the Regional Director of Phuentsholing and division heads of the corporation. Indian counterparts, primarily buyers, were also invited to the event. The gathering provided a valuable platform for sharing experiences, emphasizing the importance of cross-border collaboration in the auction process, and discussing potential enhancements. Last year, a total of 18,821 metric tons of potatoes and 2396 metric tons of vegetables were exported, with an increase in volume by 60% and 68% respectively compared to 2022. Unlike the disruptions experienced during the pandemic and post-pandemic periods, this season's auctions are anticipated to be better. With our dedicated team of experienced staff at our auction yards, we anticipate providing seamless export facilitation services. "The FCBL envisions a smooth and seamless export season ahead, and we are fully committed to supporting our farmers in every possible way to facilitate the export of their produce," remarked the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Dorji Tashi. As FCBL prepares to receive the first batch of this season, they anticipate support, cooperation and understanding from everyone involved!
